Between the trees

The first night we had the high school gals over for Bible study, we made s'mores. I can't remember how it came about, although I have a faint recollection that one of the girls came up with the idea. It just so happened that Marsha had a s'mores maker because, really, what is life if you can't pretend you are camping in the comfort of your own kitchen?

At the conclusion of that first night, we all sat around the fire (Sterno can) and chatted about one very important issue that we had not yet covered.

What was the name of our group was going to be?

(How are we supposed to make t-shirts if we don't have a name, I ask you?)

After a few minutes, we, with our sticky hand and faces, had come up with it.

Introducing...Marsha's Mellows


Our tagline? We want S'MORE GOD.

Last night we met and discussed that wonderful God we all want s'more of. We watched a video by Rob Bell that talked about this and gave the illustration of living life "between the trees." The first tree being the beginning (Garden of Eden) and the second being the end (Revelation). What about the middle?

We talked about what our lives look like in between those two points and how we can take who we are (who God made us to be) and live for God right now.

I'm sorry, is this a Bible study for the girls or for me? Because I think I just got God-tapped.

As in, "(Tap, tap). Listen up, woman. Love, God."

Marsha handed out some paper and colored pencils and had us draw two trees. In the middle, we wrote words that described who we are right now.





After we all finished, we read them out loud and talked s'more about how to use the qualities, talents, and attributes that God strategically gave us - and how to really make a difference for Him in our small little blip of time between the trees.

And then, of course, it was time for s'more s'mores.
