Open up a can on 'em

This is Alan after I got to his office earlier today to film the commercial.

This is him continuing to work and ignore me. Whenever you can get to me, Al. I'll be right here.

This was me getting bored and finding other forms of entertainment like taking pictures of myself.

This was also when the left side of my got a mind of it's own. Please disregard.

This was right before I asked Big Al why he had chocolate on his face? Or did he have a hotdog with ketchup or something? Make it make sense, man!

This was after he told me it was from cutting himself shaving. This was also when I accidentally took a picture when I meant to be filming. I am advanced in videography like that.

This was Daddy checking his cheat sheet after a few failed takes.

This was Big Al happy after the filming was done in record time. (Less than 5 tries, what what).

And THIS is what Alan has to say about this week's match up!

GO EAGLES! BEAT SAMFORD!

Fair = Fun

Some good times have been had around here lately I have just been bad about documenting the fun. Last week was busy with activities just about every night I think. I'm glad because the days are crazy not in a good way, so it's a definite plus to know that excitement is around the 5 o'clock corner.

Last Wednesday and Thursday had a special claim to fame. The Kiwanis Fair was in town and Wednesday and Thursday were the winners of having the Fair on their agenda.

Wednesday night I continued the tradition of taking in the sites and sounds of the Fair with these little cuties.

When I got to the house, Ashley was conducting a photo shoot. I hopped in of course. My camera has always loved B and W.

Can we please discuss how HUGE these children have gotten. They are 21 at this point.

21 and cuter than ever. And funny? Oh these kids are funny.

This one will slay you in 2.5 seconds.

You will not even see it coming, I assure you.

We hit no traffic on Fair Road (yes the road the Fair is on is named after the Fair - we don't play here). It was perfect!

We were meeting the Colson's there but were a bit early so we kind of walked around checking out the scene...

And robbing the 4-H booth of all their baked goods. You gotta stock up.

Pretty soon our friends made it and it was time for supper at The Pancake House!

Brannen and Lanier awaiting their plates.

Eating pancakes is a must-do at the Kiwanis Fair. And I have never been one to go against the grain.

Once our bellies were full - Will, Hayden, Brannen, and Lanier were ready to have some good old fashioned FUN on some rides.

Will, unlike his rule following Jenn Jenn, does enjoy going against the grain. He likes to find new and innovative ways to do things.

Family pictures! I love these people.

This is a motley crew for sure. And don't worry about that Haydie Mac because she's the only girl. She rules this group.

Waiting can be a real drag as evidenced by Will's cute little mug.

But it pays off in the end!

And then it was time for Jenn Jenn to have a heart attack.

There was one of those crazy houses the kids wanted to go in, but it was a little too sketchy for them to do themselves. Ashley volunteered to go with them. When she about busted it trying to enter, we were skeptical that any of them would come out alive....

But all's well that ends well.

Of course the babes wanted to take part in the games. Hey, why not? They only cost about $200 each by the time it's all over and the workers have talked you into playing "one more time". Darn those carnies and their persuasive ways!

B and Lanier on the swings.

Snacks anyone?

Don't see anything you like? How about some fried butter?

We opted for life and did not partake of the butter. We chose more games instead!

One the way out we ended up catching a pirate show.

It was awe inducing to say the least.

For me it was mostly stress-inducing. I don't like to watch people risk their lives.

I LOVE these boys!

Thursday night it was BACK to the Fair with the Hagan crew.

I got more serious about the eating this night. (Wednesday I was busy keeping children happy, alive, and not abducted.)

I opted out of pancakes and went for a burger and some (REALLY GOOD) fries.

This night was less about rides and more about looking at the exhibits.

I took this for my Super Mario buddy, Jake. Mainly to remind him of that one time I beat him at something.

I always like looking at the art. Caroline Hughes - this one's for you.

Yeah yeah, art, quilts, photography, blah blah blah. Back to the food.

We also made a stop by this old house that was built in 1886. They had it set up where you could tour. It was very interesting. As a sold-out Little House on the Prairie kind of girl - these things always intrigue me.

And here is where Ma Ingalls did all her blogging.

There was also an outhouse around back. (A two-seater no less! Fancy.) Marsha said I had to get in there which I said absolutely not because 1. Ew and 2. Claustraphobia.

Then she mentioned how it'd make a good blog post and well, ya'll know how that is. The funny part is some random guy happened to walk by so we made him get in there with me.

"Hi I'm Jenna (shake hand), nice to meet you. Wanna go in the outhouse with me? See, I have this blog and well...nevermind. Just get in, buddy."

I tried to make the picture as realistic as possible.

Another fun activity that night was finding Jake and his friends and being obnoxious, embarrassing, and annoying.

Take for example when he got on a ride with a friend who just happened to be a girl. (And it really is just a friend).

Did that stop me from coming around the side with my camera? I can't imgaine why it would.

The one Fair experince I did not get either night! I love the Ferris Wheel.

We ran into a lot of people we knew that night, including some of our sweet college girls! They are so cute.

And always up for anything we make them do for the sake of pictures. Love them.

We later found another college sweetie - Anna Kelley. She was looking so cute Marsha made her take a bunch of pictures, and then she told me to go pose with her.

Because it's always so fun to pose with a 6 foot tall super model dressed to kill.

I am on my tippy toes here, just FYI.

Now, the Fair is really only about a few things. People, food, and rides.

Fair goers rank these in different orders of importance based on their personal preferences. Rides are my least important. (I have 0% daredevil in me.) I would say that people and food are at the top and are interchangeable in my eyes. I enjoy them equally at the Fair.

Well that was until I got a hold of this and then I was like people? What people?

That, my friends, is a deep fried oreo. I was PTL-ing big time during the demise of this treat. Jake described it as an oreo with a funnel cake around it. To which I say - AMEN.

We ended up having a little picnic. On the menu: chicken fingers, fries, chili cheese fries, and funnel cake.

This was about 3/4 of the way through when I remembered to take a picture. (I had been previously distracted by the sampling of all).

Jake killing some chili cheese fries.

Me and T-Frizz. She hated me with every ounce of her being for making her take this picture. Tara is not one for being in front of the camera and "for my blog" falls on deaf ears with this one.

Later one our way out we found our friend Joanna! (I was back to loving the people at this point.)

Tara, Joey, and I all graduated together. I was trying to get a picture of the three of us but Tara wouldn't play. Marsha snapped me in the middle of saying, "Come on Tara! Class of 2002 represent!!!"

She didn't fall for it - but I Joey was my girl. After this was taken Marsha said, "Wow Jenna you look like a giant!" I was excited. I never get to be taller than people.

And that concludes the 2010 Statesboro Fair experience! I will dream about that fried oreo every night until next October.

The End.
